WEBINAR OVERVIEW
Learner Objectives:
- Learn an integrative approach to treating inflammatory conditions
- Understand how to use condition-specific protocols in clinical practice
- How to prescribe nutrition supplements specific to inflammation
Presentation Overview:
- One of the major questions for the integrative healthcare professional is: are there natural products that can beneficially affect inflammatory processes? The answer is a resounding, YES. Many natural compounds possess anti-inflammatory properties that will impact your patients health. Contemporary nutritional research supports clinical protocols that down regulate the inflammatory process. Therefore, I will highlight a few natural products that have been the focus of recent interest, including protocols and dose recommendations.
Listed below are 5 nutritional supplements that I frequently prescribe in clinical practice.
- Astaxanthin
- Pine Bark Extract
- Curcumin
- Pterostilbene/Resveratrol
- Omega-3 Fatty Acids
Additionally, I will discuss the types of omega-3 fatty acids and review the research on absorption of triglycerides vs. ethyl ester fatty acids, as well as compare types of fish oil extraction methods. This information will help the physician in choosing the best fish oil supplements to prescribe to patients. .
